Variant question + 1:1 PCB printout

NavroopS , 05-05-2017, 12:33 AM
Hi ,

I have following questions:
- Variant question
I am designing a board which will have two BOMs ( but same PCB ). On one BOM , one of the IC ( lets say U1 ) which is memory with 2Gb capacity and in second BOM same U1 is 4Gb memory.
Both are pin compatiable. So I have this question how to do variant in manager to have variant of this IC.
- How to print out 1:1 PCB
I need to verify few footprints. Is there a way to do 1:1 PCB printout.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

@NavroopS, this may help you: Altium Tutorial – Variants & Printing PDF Schematic. Basically, when you create new variant, select Alternate part.

About the printing, have a look here: Altium Designer Tutorial – How to Print assembly drawing. It is not exactly what you are looking for, but it will help you to understand how to do it.

Also, if you like, have a look my Learn to Design Your Own Boards course (often they sell it for 10USD on Udemy). It explains your questions. Here is the link: https://www.udemy.com/learn-to-design-your-own-boards
