Altium - Guard Ring via stitching or how to stitching polygon pours

Janos Pinczes , 07-28-2024, 06:00 PM
Hello All,
I already figured our a part of process, how to create guard ring around your board. I prepared a shape by lines and arcs and converted it to polygon pours the help of Tools -> Conver ... Now I need to add vias on this poly, but Altium allow only defining an area or make the whole layer via stitched the help of Tools -> Via Stitching.
What is the best practice to make via stitching on a polygon without redefining any area?
Thank you!

I always place the guard ring vias manually.
Set the grid to a higher value (0.25mm) and you may want to disable the snapping to tracks.

Ohh, OK. In this case I will use paste as array function with 0.25mm spacing. Thank you

Via's on the guard ring can (should) be spaced much more apart. The 0.25mm grid is to get close to the edge.
Usually I place the vias something like 5mm apart.
