Shared Power Vias in DDR3 Fanout

JosephH , 03-15-2017, 07:17 PM
In DDR3 memory chip fanout, it was stated that power vias can be shared by memory chips on both sides of the board, as the chips have symmetrical pin placement in some areas. Is this also the case with GND pins on the memory chips? Should each ground pin have its own via, or is it ok to share a via between two of them?

Yes, the same for GND, you can share two GND pads on opposite sides of PCB with one VIA.

PS: The pads are not exactly symmetrical, but they are placed the way, that they can share Power/GND VIAs.
