Altium component count help
Sniper2 , 06-08-2025, 09:41 AM
So how do I find the number of components on my pcb/ project. I have rooms with multiple channels bga with multiple parts so manual counting is hard . Is there a way to find this information? Maybe something from parameters manager ? Also for a specific part number how do I find how many are placed on top and how many on bottom? And information like that that is used in manufacturing optimisation

You can use the PCB panel.

However, do note that this includes all 'components'. Also fiducial, mounting holes, etc.If you want actual parts placed, I can only think of using a BoM for that.Alternatively, use the component filter.

You can use the Find Similar Object method for that filter query.

Properties panel: Board Information tells you that:

is there a easy way to use constraint manager in order to filter out componts that are both on top and bottom?
QDrives , 06-11-2025, 05:38 PM
A part cannot be both on top and bottom. What can happen, is a 'part number' to be on top and bottom. If you want to optimize this, like when you have 5 on top and 1 on bottom, then use a special BoM.Group by part number and layer.

part number yea

my mistake
Sniper2 , 06-11-2025, 06:48 PM
hmm ok ill see what i manage to d
QDrives , 06-11-2025, 11:37 PM
And a 'real' BOM. I cannot get it to work with ActiveBom.

so
Sniper2 , 06-23-2025, 04:28 PM
how can i export a bom for only the top side and only for the bottom side
Sniper2 , 06-23-2025, 04:28 PM
there should be the `layer` atribute but i cant get it to work in BOM files
QDrives , 06-23-2025, 08:02 PM
1) Go to the column tab2) Make sure you add PCB parameters3) Add the layer parameter for data ...4) and grouping5) Filter, by clicking on the tiny filter 'icon' and select the layer you want.
