how to select multiple designators together with mouse?
Sniper2 , 09-14-2024, 03:18 PM
So i know i can select multiple with SHIFT or with filters but if i have a mess in a certain overlay area can i select them somehow by dragging mouse in a certain way? or with some filter in the properties tab? same question for schematic .I sort of feel there must bea abetter way then SHIFT clock or filter on entire PBC/schematic.

You can drag select an area. Two ways - top left to bottom right for everything WITHIN rectangle - bottom right to top left for everything TOUCHING the rectangle

set filter to TEXT only and as @QDrives pointed out, draw a rectangle around them by mouse. i dont have access to altium now to test it, but I think that is what I use
QDrives , 09-19-2024, 11:50 AM
Strictly speaking, depending on what you want to do, you need to select "components" and not "text" as designators are a property of the components. For instance if you want to hide them.

exactly
Sniper2 , 09-19-2024, 04:05 PM
that explains why i failed
Sniper2 , 09-20-2024, 04:09 PM
didnt work
Sniper2 , 09-20-2024, 04:10 PM
tried with multiple filter settings and directions
QDrives , 09-20-2024, 04:18 PM
What is it you want to do with the designators?Changing parameters of it requires the properties panel.
Sniper2 , 09-20-2024, 05:22 PM
i wanted to bulk move a lot of them without clicking on each one
Sniper2 , 09-20-2024, 05:22 PM
like i do with passives and align them all with shortcuts
QDrives , 09-21-2024, 12:47 AM
If you want to move them the same direction:- filter to text- select rectangle with mouse- edit / move / move selection by X-Y- give distances- click okI hope I gave all names correct, as I am currently unable to check.
Robert Feranec , 09-21-2024, 07:53 AM
what didnt work? can you attach screenshot?
Sniper2 , 09-21-2024, 08:15 AM
i tried dragging left right then right left over some component designators with different filters enabled
Robert Feranec , 09-21-2024, 08:42 AM
and what happened?
Robert Feranec , 09-21-2024, 08:49 AM
btw, did you try to hold CTRL down when selecting?
Robert Feranec , 09-21-2024, 08:49 AM
because for some reason, altium requires that for designators

Was ctrl the alternative select key? I thought it was shift. Never seen that before, but I do not have the alternative select enabled.
Sniper2 , 09-21-2024, 11:33 AM

Sniper2 , 09-21-2024, 11:35 AM
Altium si simply massibe and it might be default on
QDrives , 09-21-2024, 11:37 AM
Yes, in the preferences. But I think it is called something like "SHIFT select".I have not seen this with ctrl, so I cannot tell if it applies to your issue.I do not have access to Altium at the moment so cannot test and verify.
Sniper2 , 09-21-2024, 11:43 AM
same , ill test it on monday , at work
