grounding the PCB4

fatemehjml , 01-22-2017, 12:55 AM
Dear Robert

I finished design of my PCB and I have connected all the nets. My 6 layer PCB consist of NXP LPC4357, GSM, LCD, NFC and GPS modules. I have some free spaces in my top, bottom and mid layers. Is it ok to make a GND polygon on free spaces of all the PCB?

Thanks in advance.

Hello @fatemehjml I do not pour GND between signals. I read some articles, that if you pour GND between tracks it may sometimes make the results worse (especially EMC). So, I use only full GND planes inside PCB and I have never had problems with it, so I keep using it that way.

I've always had this question. And I've seen a lot of professional PCBs with GND planes in top and bottom living together with tracks.... amazing. An engineer always learning...
